Rounding out the panel for the LAVA Mobile inaugural event is Peter Marx – VP of Business Development at Qualcomm and handles commercialization of emerging technologies on behalf of Qualcomm’s Global Market Development Group. Peter joins Andy Vogel of Tribune Company, Shuki Lehavi of Gumiyo and moderator Lori Kozlowski, a journalist and digital editor.
Previously, Marx was vice president of Technology and Digital Studio at Mattel, Inc., where he delivered branded digital and online experiences to consumers. During his tenure, Mattel websites were the recipient of a Webby award, honoring excellence on the Internet. Prior to Mattel, Marx managed Analog Protocol, a consultancy specializing in leading technologies for media and entertainment with clients including Fox, Viacom, Paramount Pictures, MTV Networks and Nickelodeon. Marx also served as the chief technology officer for Vivendi-Universal Games and vice president of Emerging Technologies for Universal Studios from 2000 to 2005 winning awards including best video game of E3. Marx held engineering and producer positions at Electronic Arts working across a variety of franchises, including Madden Football, Knockout Kings as well as various media.
Before entering the entertainment industry he was an engineer on a variety of telemedicine, digital video, radiological imaging and biomedicine applications at UCLA, Apple Computer and 3M Company. Marx serves as an adjunct professor for the Peter Stark Producing Program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts teaching digital media and entertainment to graduate film and TV students. Marx graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA.
