Entrepreneurs are naturally infused with passion, ideas, and a desire to attract people to their passion and ideas. Often, however, the practical realities of starting a business can get lost in the midst of an entrepreneur’s enthusiasm, and easily avoidable mistakes can result in huge headaches down the road, or worse — business.

Register Now for Real Founders, Real Talk – Feb 28, ROC, 6:30 PM

The window is closing on an opportunity to participate in a candid conversation with some of the people making Silicon Beach the destination to start, grow and fund start-ups.  This event is meant to inform founders, executives, teams, the service providers,  investors and broader community about what it is like to be a part of this dynamic community.

Moderator: Matthias Galica – Emcee at BEASTMODE.FM, curator at StartupDigest LA,

Panel:

Francisco Dao – Columnist at PandoDaily, founder of 50Kings

Shara Senderoff – Co-founder of InternSushi, 2012 Forbes “30 Under 30”

Matthew Goldman – Founder of Wallaby Financial

Kenneth Hepburn – Founder of LivnGiv, sculptor-cum-CEO, Founder Institute survivor

Amanda MacNaughton – Co-founder of PromoJam

Start-ups have myriad challenges for the early stage team but none feel the stress as intensely as the founders and especially the CEO. Add that to near celebrity status that founders can attain through proximity to a hot area or cause or technology or market. Bring the need to be always on, in the moment, part of the show which layers weight and complexity. Combine the challenges, the notoriety, the act and expectations and you brew a toxic cocktail that is consumed routinely by entrepreneurs working in an area like Silicon Beach, in an exploding space like mobile while maintaining a positive aura.

Matthias Galica – LAVA Mobile Panelist – August 16, 6:30 PM, tiato

Matthias Galica – Founder @ShareSquare & co-curator @StartupDigest LA.

Formerly Product & Performance Marketing Manager @WooMe; BizIntel @Nike.

Photogenic headliner @EntrepreneurMag 2011’s “100 Brilliant Companies”.

ShareSquare – One of the first end-to-end campaign management tools serving offline-to-mobile marketing QR code campaigns in the US, for about a year.  Then realized that leading with QR codes was “selling vitamins” even though we had a mobile web “painkiller” sitting on the shelf.

That’s the sum of the bio and company description he sent along with his headshot.  A guy of few words?  Not really.  Quality over quantity.  Absolutely.  Check out his twitter account.  Subscribe to the StartupDigest LA.  See his wall on FB.  Or this interview on socaltech:  Interview with Matthias Galica, ShareSquare.

My last role was as a product manager for another local startup, Woome.com, an online dating site. I was there for a year and a half, and the thing that influenced me about the startup was I was able to cut my teeth in performance marketing. Online dating is all about acquisition, and maximizing the ROI for people coming in, and figuring out how that corresponds to their lifetime value. Me and my co-founder went through the Founder’s Institute here, while we were still in our day jobs, and one of the markets we studied was the huge, out-of-home advertising market. In that market, there are literally no ROI metrics.
